out from comfort zone...
in these past three days, I heard a lot (again) about print media fate for, let say, 15 to 20 years from now. with the digital era still rolling, slowly but sure, you may one day ask people where to find newspaper and they will answer : museum...
this is not a new issue, though. it's been a hot topics in about a decade. Not long after the financial crisis hit US in 2008, issue of dying printed media has intensified, filling nearly every corner of the country. One by one, big media companies closed or shifted to online version only. Take a look at The Christian Science Monitor, 140 years old newspaper, which now shifted to online version only. Not to forget other newspapers, like Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and many more that have to cut their staffs, declare bankruptcy, or just vanished...
I've read, I've wrote, I've discussed this issue many, many times. Still, I haven't feeling that bad. Those are stories from US where access to internet is as easy as eat peanut.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard any stories come out from Asia. In my country, Indonesia, with more than 200 million people, there's large market available for newspaper so there will be enough "oxygen" for printed media to survive. Internet is still a luxurious things for many of our people. Once, I thought it takes a long, long time before we get there...
BUT, do not underestimate how fast the leap will be. A friend said to me: today you can say that you are safe. Let see what you say in 5 or 10 years again.
Yeah, I hate to say it, but you're right, my friend. Let's face it.
A good advice from another friend: print media industry need re-energizing. Change, or you will be left behind, just like a boiled frog (?).

small note
it's just a small note from me
but you can make it bigger from time to time
so, take a minute of your day, and see what we can do to make a difference...
